Embracing Empathy: A Reflection on the Empathy by Design Book Launch and Q&A Session

I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us for the Empathy by Design book launch and Q&A session. Whether you were there in person or joined us via Zoom, your engagement and support truly made the book launch a special and unforgettable experience. If you weren’t able to make it, fear not! We’ve recorded the session for you to watch at your convenience.

During the Q&A session, we spoke about various topics, including the book’s relevance in a post-pandemic world, insights into my writing process, personal growth, and discussions on empathy, diversity, and inclusion. It was an enriching exchange that left my heart literally full.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my former colleagues Lynn University and my currently colleagues for their unwavering support and encouragement. Special thanks to my former library director, Amy and to Gricel, my current chair for their motivation and guidance throughout this journey. Their belief in my ideas and the green light they provided have been instrumental in bringing this book to fruition.

The book, “Empathy by Design,” is a culmination of years of dedication and passion. It stems from a deep-rooted belief in the power of empathy to drive meaningful connections, particularly in the realm of library marketing. The book serves as a resource for not libraries, but for nonprofits and educational institutions, offering a framework for creating empathetic marketing and fostering genuine connections with people.

Furthermore, I’m so happy to share that EMPATHIC LIBRARY MARKETING SOLUTIONS TOOLKIT, including a marketing plan and insights into brand creation for libraries, is available online for free. My aim is for this resource to be accessible and beneficial to a wide audience, as I believe in the transformative potential of empathy-driven strategies.

I also want to express my deepest thanks for the enthusiastic response to the book’s launch. Your support has been overwhelming (in a good way) and deeply appreciated. The positive feedback and engagement have further fueled my passion to continue advocating for empathy and inclusivity in all aspects of our lives.

As we navigate the complexities of the post-pandemic world, I believe that empathy holds the key to building stronger, more connected communities. It is not just a concept but a superpower, a force for positive change and understanding.

I encourage you to explore “Empathy by Design” and the principles of empathic design in library marketing. The book or e-book is available for purchase through various channels, including the ALA store, with a 20% discount available until Friday, April 5, 2024. I hope that the book resonates with you and inspires a renewed commitment to empathy and inclusion in your professional and personal endeavors.

In closing, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, encouragement, and engagement. Your presence at the book launch and your continued support mean the world to me.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and I look forward to continuing our shared pursuit of empathy and understanding.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Sabine 🌺✨
